This is the blog of the Department of Classics & Ancient History at the University of Bristol, a place where our staff and research students can post updates on their research activities, report on recent events in the department and muse on any classics-related things that take their fancy. There’s no theme or agenda: the only two things that hold this enterprise together are, firstly, that none of us has time to maintain our own blog on a regular basis, whereas having a collective one means that there should normally be something new to read on here at least once a week, and, secondly, that we do all work together, and so have a certain number of interests in common – and if not, then we do at least have a shared commitment to informed and critical debate about the classical world and its continuing influence.
